From this major banjo manufacturer and promoter of the late 1800’s, this fancier-than-most No. 2 Stewart banjo is a fine example of the parlor banjos of the time which helped spur on the rise of classic banjo playing, with S.S. Stewart’s promotional efforts. Made in Philadelphia, features include a cherry neck with carved heel, dowel stick stamped "S.S.S. / TRADE MARK”, and "S.S. STEWART / PHIL'A PA." stamped in the dowel stick and printed on celluloid tag, ~11" Elite (Renaissance) head on metal clad rim. With electric guitar gigbag.

- Stewart painted the wood to make it look like wood grain
- 26 brackets (two changed shoes (by tailpiece))
- Several hooks and nuts replaced
- 20-fret ebony fingerboard with extra fancy pearl No.2 style inlays (one missing at 20th fret)
- Ebony peghead overlay with fancy pearl inlays (7 missing)
- Champion mechanical friction pegs with cream buttons
- Friction 5th-string peg with ivoroid button
- Dowel stick stamped “S.S.S.” and “S.S. STEWART / PHILA. PA."
- Stewart tailpiece with carved bone flower
- ~27-1/8" scale, 1-1/8" nut
- Superior gigbag
