The SJ-200 began its life in 1937 as a custom request from Hollywood singing cowboy Ray Whitley, who wanted a flat-top with the size and presence of Gibson's grand archtops. Gibson delivered, and it has been one of the most recognizable acoustics in the world ever since. From Roy Rogers and Elvis to Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, and Emmylou Harris, the SJ-200 has found its way into the hands of artists across nearly every genre. Flamed maple back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top, the iconic Moustache bridge with mother-of-pearl inlays, and graduated crown fretboard inlays make this one of the most visually striking acoustics Gibson produces.
