This model was introduced in 1929. It goes to a 17" Advanced Model form by 1935 and was discontinued by 1939. The 17" L-10 is among the rarest of Gibson's prewar archtops! The Advanced Model brought several upgrades: X-bracing, carved spruce top, checkerboard top purfling, sunburst finish, and mother of pearl double-arrow split inlays in the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The top has a bound elevated tortoise-style pickguard, trapeze tailpiece, and newer adjustable rosewood bridge. The bound headstock has a pearl script "Gibson" logo above Florentine and diamond shaped inlays, and nickel Grover tuners. Slightly newer Lifton hardshell case. Built in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
