• Front of Gibson A Mandolin

    After 110 years, some modifications, and lots of playing this A-style Gibson has returned to Michigan. Original "pumpkin top" finish, appears to have been over-sprayed or touched up in areas on back of body and neck. Original pickguard, but newer components include the fretboard, truss rod and cover plate, nut and saddle. Also the endpin and tailpiece cover have been replaced. Original hardshell case. Made in Kalamazoo, MI USA.

  • "Pumpkin" finish on carved spruce top
  • Dark cherry-toned finish on birch back and sides
  • Finish appears original but touched up
  • Bound top and oval soundhole
  • Marquetry "Rope" pattern wood rosette
  • Mahogany neck has had truss rod installed and small chunk of wood replaced on back
  • Newer flat ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays
  • Replacement 1-3/16" nut, ~13-7/8" scale
  • Non-adjustable original bridge stamped "PAT. SEPT 21 '09"
  • Strait saddle installed
  • Newer end pin and tailpiece cover
  • Raised tortoise celluloid pickguard stamped "PAT. MAR. 30 '09"
  • Original 4-on-a-plate tuners with ivoroid buttons
  • Plain overlay on paddle shaped peghead
  • Original hardshell case (merlot lining)
  • Made in Kalamazoo, MI USA
