The 1959 Les Paul Standard is widely considered the pinnacle year for Gibson's mid-century solid body electrics, and original examples now change hands for staggering sums when they surface. Only between 500 and 600 were shipped from Gibson's Kalamazoo factory that year, making them among the rarest and most coveted vintage guitars in existence. This Epiphone recreation, built in partnership with Gibson Custom, brings that legacy within reach: carved mahogany body with AAA flamed maple veneer, an authentic 1959 Rounded Medium C neck profile, and a pair of Gibson USA Custombucker pickups with Alnico 3 magnets hand-wired to CTS potentiometers, Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors, and a Switchcraft selector and output jack. The Golden Poppy Burst finish shows off the flamed maple top beautifully, making this one of the more visually striking versions of an already iconic guitar.
