Marketed by W.J. Dyer & Bro. of St. Paul, Minnesota and built by the Larson Brothers in Chicago, the Symphony Harp Mandolin is among the rarest of the Larson Brothers' fretted instrument creations. The extended upper body bout, based on Chris Knutsen's design patents, intended to provide a larger air cavity, similar to a harp guitar, but without adding sub-bass harp strings. The top and back were made with a subtle bent arch, seeking a distinct sound from both carved and typical flatback mandolins of the period. The Style 35 appointment level brings inlays to the tortoise plastic pickguard, abalone top purfling, soundhole rosette, and added headstock inlay. Features various pearl inlays on the bound ebony fretboard. Double bound body with Ivoroid and b-w purfling, spruce top, and mahogany back and sides. Natural finish. No case. Made in USA.
