  • Front and side of Denny Openback Banjo, Dorothy, 12" Rim, Brass Hoop

Dorothy is a simply-styled openback banjo with ash neck & rim with contrasting bubinga fretboard.  Rim uses a wooden flange instead of metal bracket shoes for light weight.  The Brass hoop tone ring gives a satisfying and mellow tone.

Andy Denny uses North American hardwoods (locally grown when possible) for the neck and rim, US-made hardware, and he makes his own tension hoops. He names each banjo -- Dorothy is one of a kind
