The U-1 is the single-pickup model from Danelectro's original U-series lineup built in the New Jersey factory. The semi-hollow construction pairs a poplar frame with masonite top and back. And it's wrapped in off-white vinyl-covering the sides, in a copper metallic finish. It is equipped with a lipstick single-coil pickup, master volume and a tone control knob with 3-way tone switch. The solid poplar neck, with a "coke bottle" headstock, has a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware, including the fixed bridge with rosewood saddle. Plate open geared tuners. Hardshell case. Made in USA.
