In November 1994, some of America's top bluegrass musicians performed at the Somerville Theater near Boston to celebrate the life and work of banjo player Don Stover, who was recuperating from a serious illness. The artists, all close friends and admirers of Don, gathered together in a powerful show of love and support and, in the process, created an evening of unsurpassed joy and musicianship. Sadly, Don passed on just a couple of years after this event took place, but this video is a testament to the affection with which he was held by his musical peers. In addition to peak performances by the artists, all of whom donated their talents to the "Bluegrass Summit" (co-produced by the Boston Bluegrass Union), Don Stover joins his friends onstage for some memorable jams. You'll hear his unique banjo picking and the characteristic good humor that endeared him to friends and fans throughout the years. Note: Homespun will be donating the royalties from this re-release to the IBMA Bluegrass Trust Fund. 60 min.
