  • Front and side of Douglas Unger 6-String Open Back Banjo
    A spectacular custom-built 6-string openback from the shop of Doug Unger, this was custom made for Peter Hoover in about 1972 (see 1973 photo of Hoover with this banjo). It has a flamed maple rim, dowel stick and neck with carved heel. The bound ebony fingerboard is fretless to the 5th, fretted until the12th fret, and scooped after that. The violin scroll peghead has an ebony cover and the friction pegs have carved ebony keys. Tubaphone tone ring. With hard shell case. Made in USA. On consignment.
