Photo: VI Burnside & Co. (1940's)
VGC, appears to be an original snapshot, showing three African American women with saxophones, with male musicians in the background. On the back the words "Vi Burnside / Phila. nite club / late 40's" are written in pencil. The woman on the left does indeed appear to be Vi Burnside, noted tenor sax player with the all-female International Sweethearts of Rhythm and other big bands. Photo measures 2-1/4" x 4-1/4" (appears to have been trimmed at the top and bottom) and has remnants of black adhesive on the back from a scrapbook or photo album. An unpublished photo? A Google search does not turn up this photo anywhere online.
