This is a great instrument!!
I decided to get a new guitar to replace my old Martin 000X1 that is pretty beat up and has been worked on many, many times professionally. I could not be more pleased that I made the decision to go with the 000X1AE. I replaced the nut, saddle and pins with bone, and put on EB's 9-42. The instrument has exceeded my expectations. The projection and sustain is beyond what I expected. I simply love this guitar. I am no expert on Martins and have limited skills playing, but this is the best guitar I've ever owned in playing for over 50 years. I rarely use a pick and I don't have long fingers. But for me this is the easiest guitar I've ever had the pleasure to play. I was a bit hesitant because of the richlite finger board but that seems not to be any kind of issue. Pretty much out of the box I installed the bone pieces, so I don't know how to assess the differences. However, the tone, projection and sustain of the instrument has blown me away.
As I said earlier, it is simply the best guitar I have ever owned. I would not be ashamed to play this for anyone and any audience. I have a small collection of X body martins, and a Squire Tele and Strat with upgraded electronics and pickups. All are Fender parts. I also have an Epi Les Paul with Gibson upgrades, and a Takamine classical and a cheap 12 string. This instrument is the star.
If you can't afford a solid body Martin, I don't think you'll be sorry with getting one of these. Review by Reb / (Posted on 11/28/2017)
