Celtic Guitar-An Approach to Playing Traditional Dance Music On the Guitar

by Doc Rossi

Book/CD pack. Created for intermediate/advanced players wishing to improve technique and learn new repertoire. The focus here is on melody playing with a flatpick. Doc starts with the basics of technique and ornamentaion then goes directly into the tunes. Most of the tunes are Irish, with a few from other countries, including three duets. He uses an alternate tuning, CFCGCF with a capo at the second fret, a tuning he finds makes it easy to play tunes in traditional keys and modes without moving the capo or navigating difficult position shifts. Tunes include chord symbols and performance notes plus a chord chart. CD features all 41 tunes played at medium tempo and alternate tracks with ornamentation for ten of the tunes. Note/tab. 79 pp.
