YOU can learn the secrets of this popular style! under the guidance of our own Elden Kelly.
I've been fortunate to play music with and study with some incredible percussionists. Drawing from lessons I learned from them, you'll discover a concept called "the grid" which divides longer patterns into shorter units of time. Through my method, you can break down the rhythm of any style or genre. In addition to rhythmic patterns of different music, we'll also clarify the mystery of "feel" that is so important to rhythm and musical style.
It doesn't matter what style of music or instrument you play for this class, this is for all music and all musicians.
Elden Kelly is a conservatory-trained guitarist, singer and composer. He is a professor of guitar at Kalamazoo College and a longtime popular instructor at Elderly Instruments. This is the THIRD of five separate workshops, to be run on the third Saturday of every month through May. See our "Events" webpage or the "Events" on our Facebook page for further info.
