Elden says: "Having admired pianists for many years who could sit down and play a tune seemingly without prior arrangement, I took it upon myself to develop this skill on guitar. It's helpful and enjoyable to be able to play through a tune in a more full and complete-sounding way, that could stand on its own without additional accompaniment. Gaining this skill is liberating!
If you know how to read chord changes and know the melody of a tune, you're on the right track, but there are still some steps to take until you have a great solo guitar arrangement. Luckily, there are great ways to streamline and clarify this process. Using my 'three dimensions,' 'background/foreground' and 'bass/melody chord shape' approach, you'll have better working arrangements in no time!
Bring some tunes you want to arrange, with sheet music if possible and/or a recording of the tune accessible online or on your device. I don't need to know the tune beforehand. Both fingerpicking and pick approaches welcome. If you can't read music, having a good ear is OK. Tab, chord diagram notation provided."
Aimed at advanced beginners, intermediate and beyond.
