  1. Zimnicki "Reclaim Detroit" Soprano Ukulele
    $2,500.00
Michigan craftsman Gary Zimnicki, in conjunction with Reclaim Detroit Construction, has used the salvaged, 100+ year-old wood from a deconstructed Detroit home to make a wonderful uke. Play this uniquely Michigan instrument and experience the warmth, volume and tone that comes only with the use of well-aged tonewoods. The top is from a Douglas Fir ceiling joist. The back and sides are maple floorboards (with nail holes and all). The binding, decorative joinery strips and bridge are locally grown walnut. The design is attractive and highlights the narrow dimensions of the maple's source. An engraved pearl rendering of the original house (once located just a few blocks from the famed Motown Records Studio) adorns the headstock. Top-notch Waverly friction pegs, a rosewood fingerboard with pearl dots, plus a simple rosette and top purfling complete the package. Gloss finish and Aquila strings. As seen in the Spring, 2014 issue of UKULELE magazine. Learn More
