Eastman mandolins have great tone
I bought this model recently, after owning a number of other mandolins, all of which were made in China, as this one is. I wanted an acoustic-electric, but previous models, with piezo pickups under the bridge were a disappointment. They were loud but changed the tone of the mandolin. It has an internal microphone-pickup which amplifies the acoustic tone accurately, which a piezo pickup will not do. This Eastman mandolin is handcrafted and the tone is excellent; very woody, very acoustic and mellow. The finish is perfect, without any flaws; no problems with the fret board and the action is very low. The body, neck and peg head all have binding. It came without a pickguard, but I added one from an aftermarket supplier. It comes with a fitted case. A great value.
