The legacy of Ralph Stanley is carried on in the hard-driving, straight-ahead bluegrass of Terry Baucom, Alan Bibey and their crackerjack outfit Blueridge. Junior Sisk's dusky, ethereal tenor voice and Baucom's spare banjo-pickin' evoke the master's sound, and the band's tight, moving-as-one rhythmic energy invoke the Stanley Brothers' heyday. Most of all, though, listen to this band's way with the gospel songs: the crystalline harmonizing and the upbeat, rhythmic excitement that characterizes the best of the southern gospel quartet tradition are this group's specialty.
