CHUCK LEE DEEP HOLLOW ORIGINAL 12" BANJO: Fretless neck with decorative brass overlay with S-shaped curve at bottom, Dobson-style heel and peghead shape. Frailing scoop, laminated neck with colored veneers running up each side of the center strip and under the peghead and fingerboard, 25.5" scale (well, it's fretless, but that's where we would set it), double action truss rod, scalloped bone nut measuring 1-5/16", ebony fingerboard with no inlays. The peghead sports an ebony overlay with 5-Star Planetary tuners, geared 5th peg, the wooden tone ring sits on a 12" two-ply rim with 14 brackets, a Renaissance head and No Knot tailpiece, neck woods and finish colors vary somewhat. Strung with nylgut strings, but could easily take steel.
