In a complete, well laid out, and easy to understand presentation, Rob teaches players of all levels, the secrets of playing any song they hear in their heads, in any key, without mistake, immediately.
The workshop is limited to 20 people, but even if you don't sign up in time to attend, make sure you come for the "pre show" concert, where Rob fields requests, and plays each tune, unprepared, in a multiplicity of keys and styles. Think of as many crazy tunes that he would never have prepared beforehand, and come ready to make your requests. (At the last workshop, someone asked for the theme to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, so nothing is too odd.)
Rob will show 20 guitarists, a complete course of guitar exercises, guaranteed to unlock the mystery of improvisation, (both melodic and chordal) complex chord substitutions and fingerstyle technique for both counterpoint and melodic solo.
For years, Rob has entertained millions, as staff musician at Greenfield Village, (part of the Henry Ford) and has taught thousands of students, from all over the world, the secrets of musicality.
In Rob's words, "Basic musicality must be understood and mastered, regardless of the genre. In other words, if you can't play "Oh Susanna", unprepared, in any style or genre, in any key, your goal should be to learn the basic musicality that would allow you to do that, before you become entrenched in a "prearranged repertoire".
During the 70s, Rob played 5 string banjo for Roy McGuiness and the Sunnysiders, and through the 80s, worked with many groups, playing Texas Swing, including Casey Clark and the Lazy Ranch Boys.
Besides playing bluegrass and swing, he also played solo fingerstyle jazz, rock and blues, and recently was featured as a soloist on Maria Mulduar's album, Naughty, Bawdy and Blue. Rob was also featured in the February issue of "Just Jazz Guitar Magazine", and is a popular Youtube instructor.
