Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Workshop

George will cover at least 2 different tunings: "G Wahine" (D-G-D-F#-B-D-) and "D Wahine", (D-A-D-F#-G-Eb)

George will cover the basic Hawaiian alternating bass, rhythm, hammer ons and pull offs and finger picking techniques for the two tunings above. Students will be learning at least one song in each tuning and possibly 2-4 songs in "D wahine" (This is George's Great grandfather’s secret tuning!)

George also has a DVD out on D Wahine Tuning. Students will be playing a song in the first 15 minutes of the class because these Wahine tunings are basically one finger hammer ons and pull offs fingerings and are easier to play than standard tuning.

Students should bring: Guitar, pen, music stand, tape recorder, finger picks if they use them, and paper for taking notes.

Students will get a booklet on the history of Hawaiian slack key.
