Open Road has been gathering great reviews ever since they released their CD Cold Wind on the Rounder Records label. They have attracted the attention of the bluegrass world, as evidenced by their nomination as Emerging Artist of the Year for the International Bluegrass Music Awards, in 2001 and 2002. They also were featured in a formal showcase at last year's International Bluegrass Music Association conference. Cold Wind was No. 7 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey Album chart, and the song "Cold Wind (On Fletcher Hill)" is number 14 on the Bluegrass Unlimited song chart. It was also chosen as one of Billboard.com's Best of 2002 staff picks.
