Rhonda Vincent & the RageThe International Bluegrass Music Association's Entertainer of the Year, and Female Vocalist of the Year 2001.
The Wall Street Journal calls Rhonda Vincent "The New Queen of Bluegrass", IBMA voters named her Female Vocalist of the Year, Dolly Parton says of Vincent's Back Home Again CD, "Rhonda Vincent - What a talent. What a beauty. What a special human being. I love this album and I love this girl." From the stage of the historic Grand Ole Opry, to numerous television appearances on TNN, CMT, CNN, GAC and NBC, to performing to enthusiastic music lovers all over the world, Rhonda has earned the respect that Dolly speaks about. Another country music legend who has been in Rhonda's corner is George Jones, so much so that he has asked her to open some of his shows. Alison Krauss says of Vincent, "Rhonda's music and voice have been incredibly important to me for the last ten years. I can't wait for the rest of the world to catch on and see what they've been missing." Rhonda Vincent & The Rage are the reigning Entertainer of the Year, and Rhonda is a twice voted Female Vocalist of the Year, for IBMA; as well as SPBGMA's Female Vocalist (Contemporary) and Album of the Year, all in 2001. Rhonda and her band the Rage were guests on the CBS Saturday Early Show, The All-American Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS, the shopping channel QVC and the televised Grand Ole Opry. Vincent began her professional music career at the age of 5 with her family's band the Sally Mountain Show. She has 19 albums to her credit, the most recent being The Storm Still Rages on Rounder Records. Rhonda and the Rage have been the talk of bluegrass festivals the past few years playing hard driving, high energy traditional bluegrass music. The success of Back Home Again and The Storm Still Rages has kept Rhonda very busy on the road, but she keeps her family at the top of her priority list. She has been married to Herb Sandker for 18 years and they have two daughters, Sally (15) and Tensel (13). On her 1998 release Yesterday and Today - 30 Years of Music, there is a song called How Far Is Heaven which Rhonda recorded when she was five years old with her Mom and Dad. She recreated that song for the final track of that CD, this time with her Mom, Dad, Sally and Tensel. For Rhonda Vincent, family and music continue to be her focus.
