Sirens (Donna Creighton, Nora Galloway, and Jo-Ann Lawton) have been playing together since December 1996 when they got together for a hometown gig before Christmas. Since that night they havenÂ’t looked back, and their music continues to cast its infectious and hypnotic spell wherever they perform. The homegrown eclectic style of original and traditional music springs from Celtic roots, innovation, and a taste for elusive, hard hitting, and often hilarious characters, events and stories. Donna Creighton was born into a musical family and raised on a diet of traditional, Celtic, choral, classical and folk. As a child she tinkered with the various instruments lying around the house, and now plays all manner of wind instruments, piano and guitar. Her fine musical skills have been honed over the years from countless performances including busking, musical theatre, choral and solo performances. Nora Galloway has performed on stages from small-town Ontario to cross-country tours of Canada and demand performances in Europe. Her powerful warm voice and honest delivery have propelled her on to the stage with such greats as Jeanie Shepherd and the late Conway Twitty, and feature performances with Orchestra London. Jo-Ann Lawton is a well known London singer and songwriter. Over the past 15 years she has played in a variety of venues from street corner busking to concert hall and folk festival performances. Being an expert on truths, half truths and down and out lies, Jo- Ann has used personal insights and musical ability to establish herself as a prolific songwriter. Together, these three musicians blend contemporary folk sounds with elements of Celtic, Country, and Jazz music. Since the release of their first, self-titled album was in September of 1997, Sirens have delighted audiences across Ontario and the Midwest U.S. with their dynamic stage presence, compelling material, and excellent musicianship. With their second CD "SmilinÂ’," Sirens join the Borealis label in fine style.
