12:00 am
Location: Elderly Instruments
in-store performance (free)

Eddie Taylor Jr., blues guitarist, singer, and son of Chicago Blues legend Eddie Taylor, makes his Lansing debut on Thursday April 1. First on the agenda is a free, in-store performance at Elderly Instruments, (1100 N. Washington) at 6:30 p.m. Taylor will play material from his debut release "LookinÂ’ for Trouble", which is a tribute to his father. For the in-store performance Taylor will be joined by Delmark recording artist, guitarist Rockin' Johnny, a formidable talent in his own right. At 9:30 p.m. Taylor will perform with his whole band (which also features RockinÂ’ Johnny), at The Green Door Lounge (2005 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.) Taylor, at just 26 years of age, attracted the attention of blues fans world-wide last year with the release of "Looking For Trouble." Reviewers in several major blues magazines have praised the recording as a strong debut and a fitting tribute to the work of his father. Andy Grigg of Real Blues wrote: "Every time I listen to this album I become more and more sure that this is the best traditional Chicago blues album I've heard in years. This is W.C. Handy Award material for sure." Taylor first developed his musical abilities by playing along with his father's recordings. Over the past few years, he has gained great experience as a sideman, playing with established blues artists including Willie Kent, Hubert Sumlin, and John Primer. He has also toured extensively with Eddie Shaw's Wolf Gang. Shortly after the release of "Looking For Trouble", Taylor assembled a first-rate band of Chicago-area musicians, and since October of 1998 The Eddie Taylor, Jr. Blues Band has been performing regularly. This will be their first trip to Michigan.
