19 photos - VG-EC, this is the actual guitar, owned by Geoff Muldaur and featured in the spring 2009 edition of "The Fretboard Journal," that was the inspiration for his return to active duty in music and the template for the Martin "GEOFF MULDAUR / 00-18H ARTIST EDITION," sunburst Adirondack spruce top with scalloped braces, mahogany back and sides, 12 fret mahogany neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, 20 frets, pearl dot inlays, tortoise plastic binding with b-i-b-i-b top purfling, old 18-style rosette, original tortoise plastic pickguard, slotted peghead with Brazilian rosewood overlay and original decal, replacement Waverly/Sloane 3-on-plate tuners with engraved bronze base-plate and ivoroid buttons, 24.9" scale, newer 1-7/8" bone nut, rosewood (not Brazilian) replacement bridge with bone through saddle, there are two repaired side cracks. Originally a Hawaiian guitar, like so many of these it has been converted to Spanish style and the neck has been reset, reshaped and refretted as part of the process of the change from Hawaiian-style playing, there is an ebony bridge cap, some playwear around the soundhole and on the edges but the finish is original, and lest we forget, the guitar sounds and plays great!!! If you wonder why he's selling it, well, the nut width is 1/16" wider than the new Martin model, which is mighty fine too. This guitar has the kind of sound you just can't quite get in a new guitar, but Geoff just hasn't been using it. Also included are a letter from Geoff Muldaur to Stan Werbin, our owner and president concerning the guitar, and a signed glossy copy of the photo from "The Fretboard Journal," a copy of the spring 2009 issue of TFJ and the new Texas Sheiks CD on which Geoff plays the guitar, a Highlander pickup included but not installed (pickup works with stereo chord to Highlander remote power box, not included), on consignment, with newer Martin / Geib-style HSC (green lining) (SN:77702)

Martin company refinished it after repairing the top and back cracks, installing a new bridge, rosewood bridge plate and tuners. In 2009, Joe Konkoly in our shop replaced the bridge plate with an original size maple plate, reset the neck and dressed the frets, putting the guitar back into a more original state as well as optimizing its playability. Now as well with its well-aged finish and return to original specs this very fine sounding guitar will undoubtedly make some player/collector extremely happy!
